A BRIEF HISTORY...
THE FIRST CUPCAKE
The English take claim to the first mention of "cupcakes" in 1796. Their tiny "fairy" tea cakes were often baked in individual pottery cups rather than our modern day tins.
Fairy cakes were named as such because of their petite size -- small enough to be served to delight the residents of the elemental kingdom.
The word "fairy" (or "fairie") appeared around 1300, referring to "enchantment" and "magic." We certainly agree Toadstool® cupcakes are both enchanting and magical.
OUR FOUNDERS
When Larry converted their home's basement into a commercial kitchen for Lisa to make her cream filled custom cakes and sell them to the public, the last thing they were thinking of was starting a national franchise... they just wanted to follow their passion for all things sweet and yummy and bring a sense of wonder and fun into the world of desserts and share it with their community.
Thirty years and six bakeries later, Larry's baking skills and Lisa's personal cream filled cake recipes became the essential ingredients for the creation of the Toadstool dessert.

ALL FROM A DREAM!
Larry and Lisa's daughter came up with the idea of rebranding their Eugene, Oregon cupcake shop in the fall of 2013. She literally woke up from a dream where she saw a toad standing next to a cupcake shaped like a mushroom and said, "Dad you're now Toadstool Cupcakes."
She and her husband designed the logo and Larry and Lisa were challenged to create a dessert to match their vision. They put their creativity to the test, and re-created the cupcake! Toadstool Cupcakes was an instant success and the family owned bakery was voted one of Eugene's favorite dessert places.

In 2016, Toadstool Cupcakes relocated to Portland, Oregon in the Hawthorne Business District. In two short years they became "Oregon's top rated cupcake shop" and "One of the Best 50 Bakeries in America" with rave reviews on Yelp and Google and were recognized as one of America's best bakeries.
All the cupcakes were baked on site, handmade, home grown, harvested daily and of course...

Toadstools is a fast food bakery, casual "take out" concept that specializes in only one product- the Toadstool dessert. Our bakeries should be located in high traffic areas, with easy access and plenty of free parking. We rely primarily on online ordering along with "walk-in" business. There is no "dining "in". All production (baking and decorating) is done onsite at our "Bakery". Each Bakery will have their own designated territory which will include additional Retail Shops that they will own and manage. Bakeries can range in size from approximately 1500-2500 square feet.
We are looking for franchise owners who can be as passionate about the Toadstool concept as we are and who have integrity, a strong work ethic, and a desire to be part of a team that brings to their community this unique and fun culinary experience.
We expect you to possess excellent managerial, sales, and customer relations skills as well as prior experience.in the food service industry.
Our group of professionals will work side by side with each of our franchisees to deliver what they need so that they enjoy owning Toadstools as much as we do.
All franchisees will undergo weeks of "hands on" training and will be provided with a 250 page operations manual to make sure each Toadstool dessert is made to the same quality standards everywhere.
